The Panagia Soumela Wind Park started its operation in June 2011. It consists of 7 wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 14 MW.
The park regularly hosts activities for hikers and visitors of all ages, who want to learn more about Renewable Energy Sources. In 2024, we welcomed students of EPAL Grevena to the plant site. During their visit, students were given a tour of our facilities, and were informed about the operation and maintenance procedures of the park. Then, they saw up close the operating mechanisms of a wind turbine, talking with engineers of our company about the technological developments in the sector.
At the same time, on the occasion of World Wind Energy Day (15 June), we organized an educational activity in collaboration with the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN) and the Greek Scout Association. The children and youth who participated had the opportunity to be informed, through the “Energy On The Go” program, about the value of Renewable Energy Sources in their daily lives, but also related career opportunities in the energy sector.
These actions are part of our educational initiatives to bring the younger generation closer to green energy. Besides, we have been implementing since 2014 the educational program “Energy On The Go”, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. It is an experiential learning program that aims to raise students’ awareness on the principles of sustainable development, Renewable Energy Sources and their applications in everyday life.
