• Principia was awarded a Platinum Award in the CR Index 2026, confirming the systematic integration of sustainable development and ESG principles into its strategy and operation.

Another important distinction was awarded to Principia in the context of the CR Index Awards, organized by the Corporate Responsibility Institute. The CR Index, the first National ESG Index in Greece, has been evaluating the performance of businesses and organizations based on international ESG criteria since 2008 and is a benchmark for responsible entrepreneurship in the country.

This year's distinction is a continuation of a steady course of development. In 2023, as Enel Green Power Hellas, the company was distinguished with a Silver Award and the special Best New Entry commendation, while in 2024 it won a Gold Award and a special commendation in the "Environmental" pillar. The upgrade to a Platinum Award reflects Principia's continued progress in integrating sustainability into all of its business operations.

Principia's approach to sustainable development is based on creating long-term value for society, the environment and its people. This approach is also reflected in the recently published Sustainability Statement 2025, which has been drafted in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and transparently presents the company's performance, impacts, risks, opportunities and objectives in the pillars of Environmental, Social and Governance.

The ranking highlights the 1,000 fastest-growing companies in Europe, based on their compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of their revenues for the period 2021–2024, and is one of the most reliable benchmarks of business dynamics at a pan-European level.

For the Principia Group, this distinction is reflected in specific figures: 69% overall growth over the three-year period 2021–2024 and 19.1% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). Additionally, during the same period, the company’s installed capacity increased from 482 MW to 727 MW, recording an increase of 50.83%.

Of particular importance is the fact that Principia is among only four Greek companies included in this year's list, while it is also the only company in the Renewable Energy sector to be distinguished.

Principia - jointly owned by Enel SpA and funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management - announces that Aristotelis Chantavas will step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective March 27, 2026. The new CEO will be announced soon.

Aristotelis Chantavas joined the company in 2018 as Head of Europe Area at Enel Green Power and played a key role in the company’s transformation into Principia following its acquisition by funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management.

• Principia has finalized the acquisition of four operational wind farms with a total installed capacity of 150,2 MW from EDP Renováveis (EDPR), with an estimated transaction value exceeding EUR 200 million.
• Following the closing of the transaction, Principia’s total installed capacity increases to 727,2 MW, further strengthening its position in the Greek renewable energy market.

Principia - jointly owned by Enel SpA and funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management - announces the closing of the acquisition of a portfolio of four operational wind farms in Greece from EDP Renováveis (EDPR), with a total installed capacity of 150,2 MW, following the fulfilment of all customary conditions stipulated in the relevant sale and purchase agreement.

With the addition of the new assets to its portfolio, Principia’s total installed renewable energy capacity now stands at 727,2 MW, representing an increase of approximately 26% compared to the previous year, while installed wind capacity rises by approximately 40,7%, reaching 518,6 MW (from 368,4 MW).

The estimated value of the transaction exceeds EUR 200 million and forms part of Principia’s broader strategy to further strengthen its portfolio with mature, efficient and long-term renewable energy assets in Greece. The acquired portfolio comprises four wind farms operating under 20-year Contracts for Difference (CfDs).

• 7 integrated actions of social and environmental contribution were carried out, exceeding 650 hours of voluntary work in total.

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day (5/12), Principia organized Community Week for one more year, as part of the multi-award-winning corporate volunteer program “Be The Hero”. The aim of the initiative was to actively support social groups and organizations, while strengthening environmental care activities in local communities.

Social and Environmental Contribution Actions

Between December 1st and 9th, Principia employees participated in a comprehensive series of initiatives in collaboration with bodies and organizations throughout Greece:

• Blood Donation & “Agios Savvas”: A voluntary blood donation was carried out in collaboration with the “Agios Savvas” General Anti-Cancer-Oncology Hospital, supporting the company’s Blood Bank with 23 bottles of blood.
• “Margarita” Special Education Workshop: Creation of Christmas gifts, ornaments and paintings together with the children of the center, which will be made available at the organization’s Christmas bazaar to support its therapeutic programs.
• Athens Home for the Elderly: Painting and aesthetic upgrade of over 500 sq m. of elderly living spaces.
• "Trees4Greece": Planting over 100 slow-burning trees at the foot of Mount Hymettus, ensuring their care for the coming years with the support of the Municipality of Vyronas.
• "Boroume sti Laiki": Collection of 430 kilos of usable surplus fruits and vegetables, corresponding to 1,290 food portions, at the Ampelokipi farmers' market, with the aim of promoting them to beneficiaries of the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens, contributing to the fight against food waste.
• "SOS Children's Village Thrace" (Alexandroupolis): Painting and aesthetic upgrade of the structure's external walls, as well as donation of sports equipment, including a professional-sized basketball.
• "Kivotos" (Kozani): Maintenance of the original wooden playground that was constructed in 2024 in the outdoor area of ​​the "Kivotos" Center for Recovery - Rehabilitation, Day Care, and Day Care for People with Disabilities.

Through these integrated actions, Principia stood by vulnerable groups, strengthened structures that perform important work, and protected the natural environment.

Practical, lasting impact

Community Week once again demonstrated the power of teamwork and collective mobilization. With over 650 hours of volunteer work, our people supported social structures, helped reduce food waste, upgraded basic infrastructure for the elderly and children, and contributed to environmental restoration actions. It was a week full of meaningful work, empathy, and real connection to society.

Be The Hero: A pillar of corporate responsibility

The corporate volunteer program “Be The Hero” is a key element of Principia’s strategy for social responsibility and sustainable development. For the fourth consecutive year, it mobilizes the company’s people to actively participate in social, environmental and educational initiatives. With more than 40 social actions annually throughout Greece, Principia creates stable and timeless value, strengthening its ties with local communities.

The volunteer week confirmed the company’s commitment to positive social impact, with the high participation and enthusiasm of Principia’s people being a key driver of success.

Principia – jointly owned by Enel SpA and funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management - has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement to acquire a portfolio of four operating wind farms with a total capacity of 150 MW in Greece from EDP Renováveis (EDPR), with an estimated Enterprise Value of over €0.2 billion.

The portfolio consists of four wind farms, all operating under 20-year Contracts for Difference (CfDs). The addition of 150 MW raises Principia’s total renewable installed capacity in Greece to 727 MW.

Statement by Aristotelis Chantavas, CEO of Principia: “The acquisition of this portfolio strategically strengthens Principia’s presence in the Greek renewable energy market, in a constantly evolving environment, and reaffirms a role of leadership in the country’s energy transition. The transaction is expected to be completed during 2025.

Principia – whose shareholders are Enel and Macquarie Asset Management – symbolically announces,  on the occasion of World Environment Day (5 June), the completion of the reforestation project in the area of Kastanologgos, in Southern Evia, near the "Kafireas" Wind Farm Cluster. This ambitious initiative, which was implemented under the guidance of the Forestry Department and the Local Authorities, is not only a milestone in the conservation and regeneration of the ancient wild chestnut forests of the region, but also a model example of forest regeneration, as such action has never been implemented before in the country.

Kastanologgos stretches on the slopes of Mount Ochi and is living proof of the island's rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. With most of its trees reaching the age of 450, Kastanologgos is a "natural monument" for South Evia. However, decades of disease and exploitation have threatened the survival of this precious ecosystem.

In response to this urgent need, Principia launched a holistic reforestation effort in 2018, committing over €1.5 million to revitalize 660 acres of forest land. The project included several critical stages, such as the creation of forest roads and fire zones to improve accessibility and safety, as well as the installation  of 13,000 metres of fencing, in order to protect new trees from external factors.

During the project, Principia collected seeds, grew them in a special nursery in Athens and created 30,000 healthy new seedlings, which were transplanted to the areas under reforestation. To ensure their survival, over 126,000 meters of water network and corresponding reservoirs were installed, while the company is committed to their maintenance in the coming years.

What makes Principia's initiative unique

The initiative of Principia in Kastanologgos is distinguished for:

• Focus on a rare ecosystem: It concerns the restoration of an ancient wild chestnut forest, with trees up to 450 years old, which is part of the Natura 2000 network.
• Scientific approach: It is accompanied by scientific research and monitoring, in collaboration with the Forestry Department and other bodies, for the study of natural regeneration and the protection of biodiversity.
• Holistic management: It includes measures such as the installation of fences to protect against overgrazing, the collection and cultivation of local seeds, and the creation of irrigation infrastructure to support new seedlings.

Principia's work is a model for the restoration of rare and sensitive ecosystems, as it combines environmental protection with scientific documentation and close cooperation with the local community and the competent authorities. Today, thanks to the uninterrupted dedication of the company and its partners, Kastanologgos is experiencing an impressive revival – as for the first time in 150 years, new chestnut trees take root and grow in this primeval forest, giving life and continuity to a unique natural monument of South Evia.

• On Thursday, May 22, Principia inaugurated the "Perasma" photovoltaic park array, with an installed capacity of 95 MW, in Kozani
• The inauguration took place in the presence of representatives of the Local Government

Principia  – whose shareholders are Enel and Macquarie Asset Management – continues to work on Greece's energy transition. The "Perasma" solar plant, which was inaugurated in Kozani, is another project of strategic importance for lignite phase-out.

A passage to tomorrow

The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday 22 May in the presence of representatives of the Local Government and civil society, local actors, journalists, employees and partners of Principia.

During the event, the CEO of Principia, Aristotelis Chantavas, stated: "Today is an important milestone for us and for Western Macedonia. "Perasma" substantially strengthens the national effort for a just energy transition, and I am proud that Principia is at the forefront of this change. We believe that lignite phase-out is not just an obligation, but an opportunity for a socially just and environmentally responsible future. " Perasma " is exactly that: a passage from lignite to sustainable energy. We thank those who worked to make it happen and we are committed to continuing with the same responsibility and dedication."

Landmark project for Western Macedonia

With seven solar parks and a total capacity of 95MW, Principia's “Perasma” cluster  – which is located near the Communities of Mavrodendri and Sidera – produces 126.8 GWh of green energy annually, sufficient to meet the needs of 36,000 households, while preventing the release of 72,500 tons of CO₂ per year. The project includes 170,000 double-sided solar panels and modern management systems, ensuring high efficiency with a low environmental footprint.

Additionally, 130 km of medium-voltage cable were used for the cluster's interconnection with the grid, and a state-of-the-art Ultra-High Voltage Center (400kV) of closed type was also built. In total, during the construction of the project, 200 jobs were created, with the majority of these jobs being filled by residents of the surrounding areas.

A project with a social footprint

Social interventions were carried out with substance and symbolism. Indicatively, some of the more than 35 actions implemented in collaboration with the Communities of Mavrodendri and Sidera are mentioned:

• A circular economy program was implemented, utilizing over 500 packaging pallets and large impellers from the construction of the parks. In collaboration with the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia and the Bioeconomy & Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE), the material was used to create handmade gifts and toys, as well as a wooden playground that looks like a ship, to enhance its educational work of the Center for Recovery - Rehabilitation, Day Care, Day Care for People with Disabilities "Kivotos", in Argilos, Kozani.
• A program was organized to identify and address the energy needs of the Community of Mavrodendri, creating the first one-stop shop in Greece for the better information and awareness of citizens, as well as the provision of personalized advice.
• The  renovation of the old school building in the Community of Sidera, which dates back to 1930, has been completed, highlighting its historical value and enhancing its importance as a center of all cultural activities of the community.
• Cultural events in the Community of Mavrodendri have been and continue to be supported.

Looking to the future, Principia develops and implements projects that not only promote sustainable development but also catalyze the regeneration of local communities, giving life to a new, greener energy map for Greece.

• As part of the Volunteer Day, Principia organized a week of social contribution and solidarity
• 6 actions were implemented, exceeding 350 hours of volunteer work in total

Actions throughout Greece

From the 2nd to the 7th of December, Principia organized  a series of voluntary actions in collaboration with institutions and organizations throughout Greece. Principia employees enthusiastically embraced the Week of Social Contribution, with over 80% participation in the various actions.

Specifically:

• Chatzipaterio Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities: Construction of Christmas ornaments and gifts, for the organization's bazaar
• Wise Greece: Creation of Christmas Cookie Boxes that will be offered during the holidays to 50 families, benefiting from the Social Grocery of the Municipality of Chalandri
• Athens Nursing Home: Painting of walls and renovation of infrastructure in the accommodation area of the elderly and in the nursing home of the Nursing Home
• "Theotokos" Foundation: Manufacturing of items in the Foundation's carpentry, sewing and weaving workshops, sorting of recyclable materials, and Christmas decorations
• Boroume: Collection of unsold products at the farmer's market of Ampelokipi, and delivery to beneficiaries of the Municipality of Athens, while contributing to the fight against food waste
• SOS Children's Village of Thrace, in Alexandroupolis: Dismantling of old structures in the exterior of the structure, so that new, more modern ones can be placed in their place.

Through these six voluntary social contribution actions, Principia stood by our fellow human beings who are being tested, as well as organizations that carry out important work. In total, more than 350 hours of volunteer work were completed.

Impact on society and the environment

For the third consecutive year,  Principia's "Be the Hero" corporate volunteering program highlights its employees as protagonists of social contribution. The strategic goal of the program is to create a positive impact on local communities and the environment, while inspiring a sense of social responsibility in the company's human resources. The success of "Be The Hero" is confirmed by the numerous distinctions it has received,  with the most recent winning the Gold Award in the category "Internal Communications & Employee Engagement" at the PR Awards 2024.

The initiatives began in September 2022, urging employees to become the daily "heroes" that our fellow human beings need, through simple daily acts of volunteering. "Be the Hero" is another part of Principia's commitment  to corporate responsibility and sustainable development with over 60 cultural, social and sports initiatives annually, in local communities across Greece.

• For the 9th consecutive year, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the pioneering and innovative educational program "Energy on the Go by Principia" was organized.
• Since 2014, more than 4,000 pupils and students from all over Greece have participated in a series of actions, aiming to inform and raise awareness on sustainability and green energy issues.

Principia, as part of its commitment to creating a sustainable future, has successfully completed for another year the innovative educational program "Energy on the Go" which bears the approval of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and aims to inform and raise awareness among pupils and students on issues of sustainable development and renewable energy sources (RES). In total, since the start of the program in 2014, more than 4,000 students have participated in the program.  

Report for the Educational/Academic Year 2023-2024

For the educational/academic year 2023 - 2024, over 700 children and young people from Athens, Agrinio, Lamia and Grevena got to know the world of environmental sustainability, green energy and circular economy through experiential activities. Students from Grevena and Edessa visited the wind farms "Monastiri 2" and "Zoodohos Pigi", where, with the help of Principia's engineers, they got to know the operation of wind turbines up close and learned how wind is converted into energy. In addition, Principia organized a special educational action at the "Zoodohos Pigi" park on the occasion of Global Wind Day on June 15. In collaboration with the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (HWEA), the wind farm was transformed into an original "knowledge center" for children and young Scouts. Finally, at the Martino wind farm, in Fthiotida, Principia welcomed students from the Special Laboratory of Vocational Education and Training in Lamia, offering them an experiential and entertaining acquaintance with modern energy production technologies from RES.

To conduct Energy On The Go, Principia employees voluntarily support the program and contribute their knowledge and experience to inform and raise awareness among participants on sustainability and green energy issues.

The company's social initiatives are fully aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

• Through an innovative circular economy project, implemented by Principia in collaboration with the University of Western Macedonia and the Bioeconomy & Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE), the children of the Center for Recovery - Rehabilitation, Day Care for People with Disabilities "Kivotos" acquired a new original wooden playground symbolically named "Ark".
• For the construction of the playground, pallets and wooden rotors from a development project of Principia in Kozani were reused.

Principia has completed a new innovative project that utilized the principles and practices of the circular economy to offer education and empowerment to children but also to strengthen the entertainment infrastructure of the Center for Recovery - Rehabilitation, Day Care for People with Disabilities "Kivotos", in Kozani, which has been operating in the country since 2000. The "Creation of the Ark" project was funded by the company,  with the contribution of  the Bioeconomy & Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE) and the scientific support of the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia.

Through the Project, the artistic skills of the children hosted at the Center were developed, the perception of the wider community on the value of the reuse of materials and the circular economy was strengthened, and the relationship of the local community with the University of Western Macedonia was further cultivated, through the internship of 35 students who were employed in the different stages of the construction of the "Ark".

More specifically, 500 pallets that transported the photovoltaic panels to  the "Perasma" solar park under construction, as well as 6 huge 1.5m diameter impellers with medium voltage cables used in the project, constituted the raw material for this important project, which was divided into three phases:

• Last December, the Center utilized some of the materials to create Christmas greeting cards, decorative ornaments and gifts, which were artistically curated by the children. The children's creations were offered to Principia employees, and were donated to the Center's Christmas bazaar.
• Then, students of the Sculpture and Decoration Laboratories of the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia created original and utilitarian wooden toys that helped the children of Kivotos to develop their imagination and promote their social integration.
• The culmination of the project was the creation of the wooden playground called "Ark", inside the premises of the Center. More than 450 man-hours were allocated for its construction and natural timber was used, as well as Principia's pallets and impellers from the "Perasma" solar park under construction. The ark can receive dozens of children at the same time, constituting a unique meeting point, coexistence and respect for diversity. The area is covered and suitable for wheelchairs, so that every child has free access to play. In order to complete the "setting" of the "Ark", the remaining raw materials were transformed into wooden toys, which have been placed inside the playground.

The support for the "Ark" project, which annually benefits 120 families in the wider region, is a practical proof of Principia's commitment  to giving back to society and is added to a number of circular economy projects, such as the reuse of old merchandising materials in the context of rebranding in collaboration with Fabric Republic and the creation of a recreation area at its "Soros" wind farm, in Evros. Guided by innovation and creativity, the company aims to create mutual value in the areas where it operates.

• The company organized training seminars in four regions of the country for members of the Hellenic Fire Service
• The subject of the seminars was the ways to deal with a possible fire in Renewable Energy Plants

Principia actively supports the work of the Hellenic Fire Service, providing a series of free educational information seminars on the topic: "Ways to deal with fire in Renewable Energy Plants", thus contributing to the readiness and training of its executives.

The first cycle of educational informative seminars was successfully completed in four regions of Greece: Kozani (April 2023), Ptolemaida (December 2023 at the Cadet School of the Fire Academy), Grevena (March 2024) and Chalkidiki (May 2024). The seminars were attended by 250 Firefighters from the Hellenic Fire Service and 300 Cadets from the Fire Academy Schools, in order to inform them about safety issues and how to deal with a fire in a solar park.

The duration of each seminar was two hours and was carried out by experienced and trained Principia personnel. During the seminar, the participants were informed about the structure of a RES energy production park, its operation mode and the Low and Medium Voltage equipment, while the electrical hazards, the protection measures and finally the fire scenarios with the necessary response actions were presented. by visiting nearby solar parks, so that participants can see the facilities and the proposed safety and firefighting measures.

Principia's contribution to the Hellenic Fire Service spans across years, with another typical example being the joint Preparedness Exercise with the 4th Special Disaster Response Unit (4th E.M.A.K.) in October 2022, which was conducted at a wind turbine in Rodopi.

The company will remain a supporter of the Hellenic Fire Service, aiding in its difficult and crucial work.

• The company undertook the study of the energy needs in Mavrodendri, Kozani through a three-stage program.
• Residents received personalized information and technical information on energy efficiency and the available financial tools to improve their quality of life.

Principia, in the context of actions in the local communities where it operates, completed the program "Energy Poverty - Identification and Addressing Energy Needs", which it implemented in collaboration with the Bioeconomy and Environment Cluster (CluBE) of Western Macedonia. The aim of the project was to investigate the phenomenon of energy poverty in Mavrodendri and the wider area of Kozani. The area was chosen as it is located both in the colder zone of the country as well as in the center of the energy transition, in order to implement this innovative program, in three stages.

More specifically, in the first phase, a detailed survey was carried out, in which the residents participated, in order to record the energy needs of the community. The data collected provided important information on the socio-economic situation and energy consumption patterns of households in the region. Then, the company utilized the data of the survey and created a plan with specific actions (roadmap) for households, but also for local government, in order to effectively address energy poverty. Along with the above and for the more substantial support of the local community, a one-stop shop was created and staffed, which offered interested parties personalized advice on energy efficiency and the upgrading of buildings. At the same time, residents had the opportunity to be informed about the available financial tools related to the implementation of energy upgrades, such as the installation of photovoltaic and/or battery systems and the improvement of heating and cooling systems.

This is the only structure in Greece designed to facilitate two-way communication between citizens and experts, promoting sustainable energy practices.

Principia actively  supports local communities in the areas where it operates, consistently contributing to local cultural events and social programs. In doing so, it demonstrates its commitment to the holistic development of the region, as well as the creation of mutual value.

• With the decisive contribution of Principia and after 5 years of procedures, the Commission registers the Greek flower honey "Kissouri Honey", as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO)

The decisive contribution of Principia to the local community of South Evia was recently recognized with the registration of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) for "Kissouri Honey" by the European Commission.

The project "Support of the Beekeeping Association of Karystos for the registration of the name "Kissouri Honey" in the Community Register of Protected Geographical Indications", was commissioned and financed by the company in January 2019 and concerned the Association which is the only body that has the right to submit the relevant registration request. Five years later, the competent EU body certifies the flower honey produced in the wider area of Karystos as a Protected Designation of Origin.

"Kissouri Honey" is the autumn heather honey which is produced in the area of Karystia by bees that harvest the flowers of the purple heather (Erica manipuliflora) that grows in the area. It is presented in liquid or crystallized form, its taste is slightly bitter, its color is dark with red-copper shades and its aroma is intense and long-lasting.

The PDO designation not only proves the origin of the product, but also sets it apart from the competition, highlighting its unique quality and providing consumers with the certainty of its authenticity. With the product being legally and financially protected, local producers have the opportunity to further develop their business activity through beekeeping.

Referring to the recent performance of the PDO in "Kissouri Honey", Eugenia Melea, Chief People, Culture & Sustainability Officer of Principia, stated: "We are proud that the product is registered with a Protected Designation of Origin. Our company has been active in the region of South Evia with targeted social actions since 2017, seeking to strengthen and empower local communities. The PDO rendering of "Kissouri Honey" is for us the real fruit of our efforts in the region. We see this achievement as an opportunity for the recovery of local honey production, but also a real support for the families who depend on it."

Principia is the name of the new company in the renewables industry, established by shareholders, Enel SpA and a fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management, having previously begun operations in 2008 as part of Enel Green Power in Greece.

The new name and corporate identity of Principia was officially presented at an event for stakeholders, institutional and operational partners of the company, in the presence of its main shareholders, the Minister of Environment & Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis and the Minister of Development, Konstantinos Skrekas. 

With a vision to create a sustainable future and a mission to accelerate the energy transition towards a green and clean model of renewable energy production, Principia will be an example of a partnership that creates value far beyond the sum of its parts.  

Principia is here to establish new principles for energy production, with absolute respect for nature and completely friendly to mankind, just like the work "Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica”, by Isaac Newton, which set the fundamental principles of physics and inspired the world’s renaissance and forged the path to progress. 

The emblem of the new company is a circle which depicts perfection and symbolizes eternity, completeness, unity and continuity. For Principia, the circle is the point from which energy emanates to give life and meet every human need, but also the planet that we must protect with all our might. With a firm commitment to environmental sustainability, sustainable development and clean energy solutions centered on mankind, today Principia is laying the foundations for tomorrow's energy. The representatives of the shareholders also spoke about the importance of this business development. With 59 wind, solar and hydroelectric plants in operation and 7 solar parks under construction, Principia produces green energy with an installed capacity of 577 MW, enough to cover the annual needs of more than 300,000 households.
