The Perasma solar cluster is located near the villages of Mavrodendri and Sideras, in the area of Kozani, at an altitude of 750 meters. It consists of 8 projects and its total installed capacity, after the completion of the construction, will amount to 95MW.
After the successful electrification of the Kozani Substation, the electrification and testing with IPTO were completed for all our solar projects which are under construction and make up the Perasma Cluster and Perasma 7 array.
The Perasma 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 projects, with a total capacity of 70 MW, are in the trial operation period, while the Perasma 7a project (14MW) has now also been put into trial operation. This adds an additional 84MW of PV capacity to our portfolio of projects in operation. In addition, construction has already begun on two more Perasma solar projects, Perasma 1 (5MW) and Perasma 7b (6MW), with the goal of being completed and commissioned within 2024.
The construction of the Perasma solar cluster follows our “Sustainable Construction Site” model, a collection of best practices aimed at minimizing the environmental impact during this process. The energy consumed at the site is being produced exclusively by solar panels.
During both the construction and operational phases of the project, we are taking the necessary measures to make sure that livestock activities, such as grazing, in the local area are not affected.
Furthermore, in line with the principles of Circular Economy, we are implementing a program for the creative reuse of packaging pallets. This is for making gifts and building a wooden structure at “Kivotos” (“the Ark”), the first recovery – rehabilitation, day care center for people with disabilities in the Kozani area. Specifically, about 1,000 pallets were donated to the Florina School of Fine Arts, where students created a series of digital drawings. The artifacts were then given to the children at the Kivotos Center who added their own personal touches. A wooden ark was created in the playground, contributing to the education and rehabilitation of children with disabilities.
Community Impact
We are committed to Creating Shared Value with local communities, both during the construction and during the operation of the project, and in this context, we cooperate with the Community of Mavrodendri, which is located near the project.
Having so far supported ceremonial events of the Community, performed works at the Cemetery Chapel and responded to a variety of needs, we have developed a healthy relationship of trust that will continue not only during the construction of the project but also after its completion.
The project offers about 200 jobs of full-time employment, 90% of which are being filled by residents of the nearby region. At the same time, in collaboration with the Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia we created – exclusively for the households of Mavrodendri – a special program to address energy poverty. More specifically, we carried out a study and research that focused on the identification of the energy needs of the village, the consequences of the energy crisis and the ways to deal with this issue in the area. As part of the program, which was divided into three phases, the first one-stop-shop in Greece was created, for two-way communication between citizens and the structure, better information and awareness, and the provision of personalized advice.
