Since 2021, we have stood consistently by the side of Giorgos Mouchthis, Greece’s leading para table tennis athlete, supporting his participation in international competitions and accompanying him on a journey marked by resilience, progress and remarkable achievements. This year, we celebrate five years of collaboration — five years defined by perseverance, growth and shared values.
Today, Giorgos ranks No. 16 in the world, having won the Greek National Championship eight times and collected 19 medals in international tournaments. Among his standout achievements are the silver medal in the team event with the Greek National Team, as well as his historic 2025 performance at the European Championships in Helsingborg, where he secured Greece’s first-ever individual men’s medal (bronze), defeating the world No. 3 along the way.
His rapid rise over the past years is no coincidence. Climbing from world No. 31 to No. 16, Giorgos openly acknowledges the role Principia has played in his development: “If I didn’t have the company’s support all these years, I might not have achieved everything I have today. It is an honour to walk this path together,” he says.
Standout Achievements
In the first official event of the 2024–2025 season, the “Tatavla Ping Pong Open 2024,” Giorgos claimed the gold medal in the 18–39 age category — competing against able-bodied players. This victory highlights not only his competitive level but also his determination.
He now prepares for the 2025 European Championships in Sweden, aiming to match or surpass his 2019 silver medal in the very same event and venue. His long-term goal remains qualification for the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
A Partnership Beyond Sport
Giorgos is much more than an athlete we support — he is an active and valued member of the Principia community. He has participated in our Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, spoken to our employees about his athletic journey and the mindset behind para-sport, and even coached participants in our internal table tennis championship.
His presence and example have been embraced by everyone, reaffirming that inclusion and diversity are not just values we promote — they are values we put into practice every day.
Our Commitment to a More Inclusive World
Principia was the first Renewable Energy company in Greece to sign the EU Diversity Charter, highlighting our commitment to equality and inclusion. Our support for Giorgos forms part of a broader strategy that includes awareness initiatives, employee engagement in volunteer activities and actions supporting people with disabilities.
Like all our initiatives that create Shared Value, our partnership with Giorgos aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals — particularly Goal 3 (Good Health & Well-Being) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Looking Ahead
Five years after the beginning of this partnership, our pride continues to grow. Giorgos Mouchthis inspires us with his dedication, discipline and authenticity. And we will continue to stand by his side — through competitions, challenges, victories and everything still ahead.
