Principia – whose shareholders are Enel and Macquarie Asset Management – continues to work on Greece's energy transition. The "Perasma" solar plant, which was inaugurated in Kozani, is another project of strategic importance for lignite phase-out.

A passage to tomorrow
The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday 22 May in the presence of representatives of the Local Government and civil society, local actors, journalists, employees and partners of Principia.
During the event, the CEO of Principia, Aristotelis Chantavas, stated: "Today is an important milestone for us and for Western Macedonia. "Perasma" substantially strengthens the national effort for a just energy transition, and I am proud that Principia is at the forefront of this change. We believe that lignite phase-out is not just an obligation, but an opportunity for a socially just and environmentally responsible future. " Perasma " is exactly that: a passage from lignite to sustainable energy. We thank those who worked to make it happen and we are committed to continuing with the same responsibility and dedication."
Landmark project for Western Macedonia
With seven solar parks and a total capacity of 95MW, Principia's “Perasma” cluster – which is located near the Communities of Mavrodendri and Sidera – produces 126.8 GWh of green energy annually, sufficient to meet the needs of 36,000 households, while preventing the release of 72,500 tons of CO₂ per year. The project includes 170,000 double-sided solar panels and modern management systems, ensuring high efficiency with a low environmental footprint.
Additionally, 130 km of medium-voltage cable were used for the cluster's interconnection with the grid, and a state-of-the-art Ultra-High Voltage Center (400kV) of closed type was also built. In total, during the construction of the project, 200 jobs were created, with the majority of these jobs being filled by residents of the surrounding areas.
A project with a social footprint
Social interventions were carried out with substance and symbolism. Indicatively, some of the more than 35 actions implemented in collaboration with the Communities of Mavrodendri and Sidera are mentioned:
- A circular economy program was implemented, utilizing over 500 packaging pallets and large impellers from the construction of the parks. In collaboration with the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia and the Bioeconomy & Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE), the material was used to create handmade gifts and toys, as well as a wooden playground that looks like a ship, to enhance its educational work of the Center for Recovery - Rehabilitation, Day Care, Day Care for People with Disabilities "Kivotos", in Argilos, Kozani.
- A program was organized to identify and address the energy needs of the Community of Mavrodendri, creating the first one-stop shop in Greece for the better information and awareness of citizens, as well as the provision of personalized advice.
- The renovation of the old school building in the Community of Sidera, which dates back to 1930, has been completed, highlighting its historical value and enhancing its importance as a center of all cultural activities of the community.
- Cultural events in the Community of Mavrodendri have been and continue to be supported.
Looking to the future, Principia develops and implements projects that not only promote sustainable development but also catalyze the regeneration of local communities, giving life to a new, greener energy map for Greece.
