Principia finalizes the acquisition of EDPR’s operational wind energy portfolio in Greece

  • Principia has finalized the acquisition of four operational wind farms with a total installed capacity of 150,2 MW from EDP Renováveis (EDPR), with an estimated transaction value exceeding EUR 200 million.
  • Following the closing of the transaction, Principia’s total installed capacity increases to 727,2 MW, further strengthening its position in the Greek renewable energy market.

Principia - jointly owned by Enel SpA and funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management - announces the closing of the acquisition of a portfolio of four operational wind farms in Greece from EDP Renováveis (EDPR), with a total installed capacity of 150,2 MW, following the fulfilment of all customary conditions stipulated in the relevant sale and purchase agreement.

With the addition of the new assets to its portfolio, Principia’s total installed renewable energy capacity now stands at 727,2 MW, representing an increase of approximately 26% compared to the previous year, while installed wind capacity rises by approximately 40,7%, reaching 518,6 MW (from 368,4 MW).

The estimated value of the transaction exceeds EUR 200 million and forms part of Principia’s broader strategy to further strengthen its portfolio with mature, efficient and long-term renewable energy assets in Greece. The acquired portfolio comprises four wind farms operating under 20-year Contracts for Difference (CfDs).
