We carried out fire drills in our Kavasila and Karydia solar plants, in collaboration with the local teams of the Hellenic Fire Service. Each drill was designed to simulate realistic conditions and test in practice the operational readiness of all parties involved.

Operational readiness drills

The first drill took place at  the Karydia solar park, in the Municipality of Xanthi (Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace), with the participation of our employees, contractors, as well as the Fire Service of Xanthi. The scenario concerned a fire outbreak inside and outside the park and the immediate, coordinated mobilization of all parties involved. After the completion of the drill, there was a detailed exchange of technical information between our engineers and the officers of the Fire Service, with an emphasis on the equipment of solar installations and the electrical hazards related to incident response.

Subsequently, a similar drill was implemented at the Kavasila solar park, in the Municipality of Pinios (Regional Unit of Ilia), in collaboration with the Fire Service of Lechena. The scenario simulated a fire incident within the project, with the aim of testing the application of safety procedures in real operating conditions of a RES project. For the coordination management of the incident, the Fire Service’s Forces Coordination Informational System "ENGAGE" was used.

Supporting Civil Protection and the Fire Service

Our support for Civil Protection and the work of the Hellenic Fire Service has been a long-standing priority.  In 2024, we organized training seminars for Fire Service officers and cadets in Ptolemaida, Kozani, Grevena and Chalkidiki, while we proceeded to provide equipment and materials to the Fire Services of Alexandroupolis and Kozani, as well as to the Fire Academy of Ptolemaida. We also collaborated with the 4th Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) to implement an evacuation drill in one of our wind farms, actively enhancing our operational readiness and security.

At the same time, the implementation of the drills in our projects reinforces our commitment to safety, confirming that prevention, exchange of expertise and cooperation are our main priorities in all our activities.
