Sustainability is an integral part of the construction and operation of our projects, with circular economy at the heart of this approach
Our goal is to make the most of the available resources, reduce waste and create a positive social and environmental footprint at every stage of our activity. Through partnerships with social organizations, recycling programs and circular economy actions, we seek to give new life to resources that would otherwise end up as waste, while creating value for local communities.
From waste management to resource reuse
We apply responsible waste management practices in all our projects, seeking the maximum possible recycling and reuse of materials, right from the design and equipment procurement phase. Our performance is reflected in our Sustainability Statement for 2025, with an important milestone being the 100% recycling of hazardous waste. At the same time, all the waste produced was managed through licensed partners, with an emphasis on the utilization of materials in new use cycles.
This philosophy was reflected during the construction of our "Perasma" Solar Cluster, when over 500 wooden pallets as well as 6 cable transfer rotors were reused to create an accessible wooden playground at the "Kivotos" Rehabilitation Center. The action was implemented in collaboration with the Cluster of Bioeconomy & Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE), with the support of Department of Fine and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia.
In the same context, we implemented material sorting and utilization practices with the aim of minimizing waste at "Themelio", the company's first battery energy storage (BESS) project. In collaboration with Fabric Republic, old battery covers were transformed into waterproof utility backpacks, which we offered to our colleagues. Through this innovative action, 150 families gained access to clean clothing, while at the same time 150 kg of CO₂ was not released into the atmosphere - showing in practice the power of the circular economy.
Giving new life to materials
This was not our first initiative to be implemented in collaboration with Fabric Republic, as on the occasion of the company's rebranding, we creatively upcycled more than 200 objects that had been used in previous actions and events, such as vests, hats, t-shirts, banners and bags. Through redesign and reuse processes, the objects were transformed into fabric accessories, bags, pencil cases, keychains and wallets, extending the life cycle of materials and reducing waste generation.
The first step towards circular economy
Our first circular economy initiative was implemented at the Soros Wind Farm, in Evros. In 2022, we utilized medium-voltage wooden pylons that had completed their life cycle and turned them into a leisure kiosk for hikers and visitors to the area. The space was designed to offer a resting spot overlooking the natural landscape, while also serving as an observation point that contributes to the fire protection of the wider area.
An enduring commitment
The transition to a more circular operating model is a key element of our sustainability strategy. Through systematic monitoring of environmental performance, data recording through our annual Sustainability Statement, implementation of international management standards and continuous search for innovative solutions, we work so that the company's development is accompanied by responsible use of resources and substantial creation of value for society and the environment.
For us, circular economy is not a future, abstract ambition. It's a practice we're putting into effect today, building the foundations for a more sustainable energy tomorrow.
