Community Week 2025: A week of solidarity, participation, & positive impact

As part of Volunteer Day, we organized a week of social contribution and environmental responsibility

On the occasion of World Volunteer Day (5/12), we organized Community Week for another year, as part of the award-winning corporate volunteering  program Be The Hero. Our goal was to support social groups, social organizations and local communities, but also to strengthen environmental care initiatives. As demonstrated by Benevity's 2025 State of Corporate Purpose Report, the voluntary participation of employees is a key driver of increasing engagement, strengthening corporate culture and positive social impact - something that was confirmed again this year by the high participation and enthusiasm of the people of Principia.

Social and environmental contribution actions

From December 1st to 6th, our people participated in a comprehensive series of initiatives that left a tangible footprint on local communities:

  • We carried out a blood donation drive in collaboration with the General Anti-Cancer – Oncology Hospital "Agios Savvas", collecting 23 bottles of blood and strengthening the company's Blood Bank.
  • We created Christmas gifts, ornaments and paintings together with the children of "EEA Margarita", which will be donated to the organization's Christmas bazaar, supporting its educational programs.
  • We painted and aesthetically upgraded over 500 sq.m. of living spaces at the "Athens Home for the Elderly".
  • We planted over 100 trees and ensured their care for the coming years on Hymettus, in collaboration with "Trees4Greece" and the support of the Municipality of Vyronas.
  • We participated in the "Boroume sti Laiki" activity at the market of Ampelokipi, collecting 430 kilos of usable surplus fruits and vegetables. The products correspond to 1,290 portions of food and were offered to the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens, while their utilization prevented the release of 3.379 kilograms of CO₂ (the equivalent of 61 trips from Athens to Thessaloniki by conventional car) into the atmosphere and the waste of 5,418,000 liters of water.
  • We painted and aesthetically upgraded the exterior walls of the structure of the "SOS Children's Village of Thrace" in Alexandroupolis and at the same time donated sports equipment and a professional-sized basketball hoop system.
  • We performed maintenance works on the original wooden playground that we built in 2024 of the Center for Recovery - Rehabilitation, Day Care, Day Care for People with Disabilities "Kivotos", in Kozani.

Through these actions, we stood by vulnerable groups, strengthened structures that perform important work and protected the natural environment.

Lasting Practical Impact

Our Community Week proved once again the power of team giving and collective mobilization. With over 650 hours of volunteer work, our people supported social structures, helped reduce food waste, upgraded basic infrastructure for the elderly and children, and contributed to environmental restoration actions. It was a week full of meaningful work, empathy and real connection with society.

Be The Hero: A Pillar of Corporate Responsibility

The Be The Hero corporate volunteering program is a key element of our strategy for social responsibility and sustainable development. For the fourth consecutive year, it motivates our people to actively participate in social, environmental and educational initiatives. With more than 40 social actions annually across Greece, we create consistent and timeless value, strengthening our ties with local communities.
