Our volunteers collected 3,600 liters of waste from the natural riverbed, supporting the mission of Save Your Hood
As part of the award-winning corporate volunteering program "Be The Hero", we organized a voluntary action to clean up and protect the environment, under the guidance of the volunteer movement Save Your Hood. On the occasion of World Rivers Day, we found ourselves in the natural bed of Kifissos, an area of significant ecological value, located in the urban fabric of Attica, but remains unknown to many of us.
Action to protect the environment
Our volunteer team was equipped with gloves, bags and tweezers and all together we proceeded to clean the area. Our volunteers collected a total of 3,600 liters of waste, including recyclable materials, such as plastic bottles and aluminum packaging. Through our joint effort, we contributed to the care of the natural bed and got to know a place that needs careful management in order to remain clean.
Our Kifissos River initiative marks the fourth consecutive action in support of Save Your Hood’s mission, with which we have joined forces in previous voluntary clean-up actions. Each time, we rediscover spaces that are next to us and see in practice what we can achieve when we work together for a common purpose. Since the beginning of our collaboration, we have collected more than 16,100 litres of waste in total.
Together, we continue to contribute
Through our volunteer program Be The Hero, we continue to create opportunities for our people to participate in initiatives for society and the environment. The active participation of each of us in these giving actions remains our constant priority. After all, the protection of the environment is a key pillar of our strategy and is linked to the way we operate and stand by local communities. We work with organizations and local bodies so that every initiative responds to real needs and has a meaningful result.
The cleaning of Kifissos is another link in this ongoing effort: an opportunity to get together in the field, to get to know the environment around us better and to offer our time and energy where they can make a real difference.
