We support the Aiolos NTUA student team of the National Technical University of Athens in their effort for distinction in the International Small Wind Turbine Competition 2026
We believe that the energy transition is based on innovation and collaboration, and needs people with knowledge, creativity and vision. In this context, we support the Aiolos NTUA student team of the National Technical University of Athens, which designs and manufactures small wind turbines, and will be participating in the International Small Wind Turbine Contest 2026.
Innovation in wind energy technology
Aiolos NTUA is a group of NTUA students from multiple disciplines, which works in the field of wind energy with the aim of developing innovative, efficient and sustainable small-scale solutions. The team made its first appearance at the ISWTC contest in 2024 with the "Meltemi" wind turbine, while in 2025 it achieved a significant distinction, winning first place in the overall ranking of the contest and second place in the Annual Energy Production category with the "Zephyros" wind turbine.
Today, the team consists of 35 students from the National Technical University of Athens, from the Schools of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. For this year's participation in ISWTC 2026, Aiolos NTUA is developing the new project "Alcyone", which focuses on improving the efficiency and overall operation of the wind turbine, with the main innovation being the introduction of an active pitch control mechanism. This technology is expected to help increase energy production, especially in low-wind conditions, as well as to make the wind turbine run more steadily at higher wind speeds.
A continuous commitment
Our support to Aiolos NTUA is another aspect of our ongoing collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens. Recently, we participated in educational activities at the University, including the Seminar on Electrification Technologies and Applications at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, while we also supported the 21st EAWE PhD Seminar organized by NTUA, in collaboration with the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN) and the European Wind Energy Academy (EAWE).
Additionally, we support the Prometheus Eco Racing student team of NTUA, in its work to develop efficient electric vehicles. Through these initiatives, we actively strengthen the educational and research community, championing groups of young people working on technologies which will prove critical for our future: renewable energy sources, electromobility, energy efficiency and sustainable engineering solutions.
