The connection of university knowledge with the real applications of energy was at the center of our initiatives in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly. Through visits to our facilities and a conference dedicated to technology and career, the participants got to know different aspects of the industry, from the production of electricity to the professional prospects created by the green transition.
Getting to know energy in the field
Shortly before the conference, we organized an educational visit of a group of students to the Larissa solar park and to the Stefanovikio Substation, located in Magnesia. The activity gave the young visitors the opportunity to see the facilities up close and connect what they are taught with the daily operation of energy projects.
The contact with the people and infrastructure of Principia was the starting point for understanding the path of electricity, from production to its transfer to the grid. At the same time, it brought future engineers closer to the working environment and the requirements of their field.
Technology, sustainability and professional preparation
This experience was continued at the "Technology & Career in Sustainable Energy Seminar", organized in collaboration with the Department, in the context of the Postgraduate Program "Energy Systems Analysis and Management".
Our speakers presented practical issues of Renewable Energy Sources and storage systems, as well as the developments around sustainability and the green transition in Greece. The program also covered the operation of modern electricity markets and the challenges, but also the opportunities, presented by the RES sector.
The last section focused on preparing for the job market, with tips for writing a resume and participating in interviews effectively. Thus, the technical briefing was combined with practical guidance for the students' first professional steps.
Firmly by the side of the academic community
The collaboration with the University of Thessaly is a continuation of our actions to support the new generation. With educational visits, lectures and participation in Career Days, we maintain an open dialogue with universities and polytechnic schools, transferring experience from the field of energy.
Similar initiatives have been carried out with the National Technical University of Athens, the Technical University of Crete, the Hellenic Mediterranean University and the Democritus University of Thrace. At the same time, we support the student groups "Prometheus" and Aiolos of the NTUA, which develop high energy efficiency electric vehicles and small wind turbines, respectively.
We continue to create opportunities to get to know the industry, strengthening the connection between studies and practice and supporting young people in shaping their professional path.
